1.1 A reminder of love

First of all, welcome to join The Australian National University family! Before you embark on this brand new journey, there are a few things we would like you to note:

(1) Currency Exchange: Please make sure you have enough AUD cash to cover the initial expenses after your arrival, such as transportation, food and necessary daily necessities.

(2) Documents: Please bring all important documents with you, including Passport, visa document, Admission letter, insurance card, etc.

(3) Electronic equipment: Bring all necessary electronic equipment, such as mobile phones, laptops, chargers, and adapters. Remember, Australia uses a type I power plug, which has an input voltage of 240V.

(4) Climate preparation: Depending on the season you arrive, Australia's climate can range from cold winters to hot summers. Make sure you bring weather-appropriate clothing.

(5) Contact information: Please remember to report to your family that you are safe upon arrival and inform them of your new contact information.

1.2 Airport to schoolTraffic route and method

(1) aircraft

Sydney International Airport (SYD) and Melbourne International Airport (MEL) is the two main airports in Australia, both serve Canberra (Canberra) domestic flights. Flying is the fastest way to get to Canberra from Sydney or Melbourne. Canberra Airport (CBR) is about 9 kilometers away from the Australian National University. You can get to the school by taxi, Uber or bus. The taxi fare is about 25-35 Australian dollars. Buses are cheaper at A$4.80 one-way.

(2) train

If you arrive in Sydney, you can also choose to travel to Canberra by train. Sydney Central Railway Station has a direct train to Canberra, and the journey takes about 4-5 hours. You can then take a bus or taxi to the school. Visit the New South Wales TrainLink website (

The coach is another economical option. Murrays and Greyhound both provide bus services from Sydney and Melbourne to Canberra.

Regardless of the mode of transportation you choose, please make sure you know in advance the exact route you will take to get to school, plan your trip as far in advance as possible, and allow enough time to deal with possible delays.

 1.3 After Arrival Guide

There are a few things to do when you arrive at ANU:

(1) Registration: First, you need to go to Student Service Center completes the check-in procedure to confirm your enrollment status.

(2) Participate in freshman orientation: Freshman orientation is a very good opportunity to learn about the campus and meet new friends. You can get school maps, learning resources and other useful information.

(3) Arranging accommodation: If you haven't found accommodation yet, the school's accommodation services department can help you.

(4) Opening network services: You need to set up the school's network account to use various online services of the school, such as student email, online learning platform, etc.

(5) Campus visit: Take some time to visit the campus and learn about the location of various facilities, such as libraries, gyms, restaurants, etc.
